Heitmillers Family Steakhouse

An Elm Mott tradition and landmark, home of huge portions and goofy little menus that you color in your meal choices on.

For years my family ate here for every one of my siblings birthdays, and for years all I ate was the chicken fried steak. Half orders only. A full order of these bad boys would choke a horse. Soaked in creamy gravy, I would put these puppies up against just about anyone else's.

On my last visit here, I ordered, or circled, some kind of "big" hamburger. And holy cow, they brought me out an enormous, almost the size of a basketball, hamburger. The thing was so big I couldn't get my mouth around it, so I just kind of gnawed my way into it. My cousin bet me the tab that I couldn't finish it, and he's seen me eat vast amounts of food. It took awhile, but I won the bet, and had to take a nap later.

The atmosphere is laid back Waco\Czech no nonsense country style. I don't know if they still do it, but they used to have live Czech Polka music on the weekends.

Expect to wait in line on the weekends, but if you are hungry, it is well worth it.

Britts Burger Barn

Twenty six years ago, in a hospital bed in West Texas, my Mom was hours away from delivering me, and wanted nothing but a huge, juicy hamburger. The nurses refused to feed her anything, so she told my dad to go fetch her a burger. He smuggled her a burger, she ate it, gave birth to me, and let loose a burger loving fool into world.

From that day on, I have eaten my way through thousands of burgers, and so far, few come close to Britt's Burger Barn. Big thick patties, tons of toppings, grease running down your arms lip smacking finger licking greatness. These are definitely hall of fame burgers.
Whatever you do, always order the home fries. They cut them fresh when you order, and make my mouth water just thinking about them.
The selection of burgers is astounding, everything you can imagine going on a burger, they've got it.


Lets just say that I hope my Mom's burger way back when was as good as Britt's.

Se Cocina

I just discovered this little gem in downtown Waco a week ago.

What an incredible restaurant this place is!

Whoever the owner is, congratulations on creating a unique Mexican food dining experience for Waco.

My cousin and I ate here on Saturday, and were overwhelmed by our experience.
Our sever was, or at least acted like he was, truly happy to meet us and show off the place.

I hope to start putting menus up for different place I visit, because nothing I could write here would do Se Cocina's justice.

I usually hate guacomole, but theirs was the freshest I have ever eaten, and therefore the best I have ever eaten.

I have not eaten here enough to find a favorite entree, but they make some kind of ice cream brownie that is incredible. We only found out how good the dessert was because our server found out it was our first visit and gave it to us on the house....

I hope Wacoan's will flock here, they have combined spectacular Mexican food with upscale romance and class in a way that few have ever attempted.

Outback Steakhouse

Outback has been one of favorite haunts for years.
The service is always impeccable and the atmosphere is relaxed, but classy.
The wife and I have enjoyed many birthday dinners here, and have never been disappointed.
It is a great place to catch a NFL game on Sunday afternoon, while munching on Bushman shrooms, of course.

So far, the Alice Springs Chicken is my favorite entree. With the new Bloomin Burger coming in a close second.

Good prices, great food, great service, Outback delivers for me.

Why this Blog.

Simply put, I love Waco.

It's a wacky little town, full of wacky people and chock full of eating options. Some wacky, some not.

When I find a place I love to eat at, I tell everyone I know, and my goal is to use this blog to further that cause.
